The prestigious 4 star, malaria free, Aquila Private Game Reserve stands in an area of 4,500 hectares of Southern Karoo Highlands encapsulating breathtaking majestic mountains, rivers, valley’s and kloofs. The land can be divided into three separate biomes – Fynbos, Renosterveldt and succulent Karoo.
Travel through the scenic Du Toitskloof Pass, visiting a Karoo Ostrich Farm along the way before arriving at Aquila Game Reserve in the early afternoon where a welcome drink awaits.

Overnight Program 1:
Day 1
- 13h00: Ostrich farm tour (lunch optional at ostrich farm) at the Karoo Ostrich Farm
- 14h00: Welcome drinks at Aquila and check into cottage
- 17h00: Embark on a 2-3 hour game drive and visit Aquila Rehabilitation and Conservation Centre
- 19h30: Return to the lodge and restaurant for an authentic African dinner or traditional South African braai (barbeque) in our lapa (weather permitting)
Day 2
- 06h00: Early morning game drive, visit Aquila Rehabilitation and Conservation Centre.
- 08h00 Full Buffet Breakfast served in the restaurant

Guests can enjoy sumptuous Aquila Private Game Reserve accommodation in premier hillside chalets and luxury lodge semis as well as wetlands bush cottages. The Honeymoon Suite has a Jacuzzi and spectacular views.
Premier Luxury Chalets
The Premier Cottages are positioned on the hillside to offer privacy and have been built in harmony with the rocky environment. They are constructed from wood, stone and thatch and feature fans, air conditioners and fireplaces. Each en-suite bathroom is unique, with twin hand basins, bath and toilet. The cottages offer a wooden deck with panoramic views across the expanse of the reserve. The Honeymoon Suite boasts a private alfresco Jacuzzi. Each cottage sleeps 2 to 4 guests.
Standard/Family Luxury Chalets
These units are semi detached with attention paid to privacy. Units are equipped with mini bars, tea and coffee making facilities and feature ‘coal’ stoves for that extra bit of warmth and cosiness in the colder months. The spacious en suite bathrooms feature corner baths with outdoor showers. There are twin share and family units.
There are 2 luxury family units that sleep 6-8 guest in 2 seperate bedrooms on the ground floor each with a double bed and four single beds in the loft area and 5 luxury family units that sleep 4 guests in a double bed on the ground floor and 2 single beds in the loft area.

Please note that ALL safari options close to Cape Town are in newly established private game reserves and thus cannot be compared to a safari in a more established game viewing area like Kruger National Park which has been around for a hundred or so years.
These options fill a very important role in the safari market by offering those persons who have never been on safari and who do not have the time to visit a more established reserve the chance to view Africas wild animals … sometimes for the first time 
RESTAURANT
Throughout the reserve, where possible, natural materials found on the property such as rocks, river pebbles, reeds, wood and thatch have been used in order to blend with the surrounding environment. This spacious African character building is the perfect setting for the extensive buffet-style meals served. Meals to suit all culinary/dietary requirements are prepared by our resident Executive Chef, including traditional South African cuisine. The restaurant can seat 180 diners in comfort and large log fireplaces set a romantic mood. The restaurant opens up to a sunken boma area – a unique design feature to Aquila.
CONFERENCING
The natural setting will afford the Conference delegate a tranquil ambience in which to host functions such as AGM’s, Teambuilding courses, Product launches etc. The Conference Centre can comfortably accommodate 40-80 delegates for a myriad of function formats. Under thatch, the Conference Boma is an addition to the spacious Conference Centre and can seat up to 40 guests.
WEDDINGS
Celebrate your wedding in style at Aquila. At Aquila Game Reserve various spectacular venues or areas can accommodate the wedding ceremony surrounded by the beautiful Karoo scenery. The wedding package at Aquila also includes the use of our thatched function hall with outdoor African boma with tailor-made menus to suite your needs and use of cash bar facilities. The bridal couple can take wedding photos with lion and cheetah cubs (seasonal) and be surrounded by the breathtaking views of the majestic Karoo Mountains and valleys.
CIGAR BAR
Originally the homestead, the building has been redesigned into a sumptuous yet intimate colonial style Cigar Bar that offers one the opportunity of enjoying an after dinner night cap in front of the roaring log fire whilst enjoying the quality cigars on offer.
POOL BAR
Situated adjacent to the swimming pool and restaurant, the Pool Bar enjoys the same architecture and African design as the restaurant and seats approximately 20 guests while enjoying the convenience of the pool area.
