Nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, Cape Town is South Africa’s second largest city and arguably the country’s most beautiful. Known locally as ‘The Mother City’ Cape Town is also the legislative capital of South Africa, where the National Parliament and many government offices are located.

The city is a hive of activity throughout the year and there is never a shortage of things to do. Visitors can take the Table Mountain Cable Car to the top of one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, or go by boat to Robben Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Nelson Mandela spent so many years behind bars.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy then the city’s wide range of restaurants and cafes certainly will. Many of the restaurants in the Mother City are recognised as some of the finest in South Africa. Capetonians also love a good jol (party) and there is no better place to let your hair down than in one of Cape Town’s chic bars or nightclubs.

The city is also a stone’s throw away from the Cape Winelands where some of South Africa’s finest wines are produced. Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschoek and Wellington are all within easy driving distance of Cape Town and are a must see for anyone visiting the Western Cape.
